In 2016, following a long and successful career within Interior Design, founder
Katie Barret set up the Design House. From Katie’s dining room table to their current
Manchester studio, the company is growing from strength to strength.
The crucial element of The Design House service is our talented and conscientious team who
all strive to ensure our clients are 100% happy with the design process and their new homes.
Your designated Interior Designer will sit at the epicentre of your project, but you will also
benefit from our Team’s collective input to ensure your designs are the very best we can offer.
Your Designer will always see that your designs are professionally communicated, delivered
on time and to your exact expectation.
Our Design Team are always on the look- out for new, exciting designs and inspiration to
share with our clients. We are also hugely proud of the fantastic network of trade suppliers
and talented crafts/tradespeople we have built. Our network always help us execute our
designs to the very highest of standards.

Founder and Interior Design Director
Having worked in interior design for the last decade, Katie set up the Design House 2 years ago.
Interiors is in her blood. Katie started out as a
mural painter during college & while studying.
Post education Katie worked freelance; writing a blog for
Terry’s Fabrics & also a stint at British Trimmings. Katie similarly
enjoyed several years as a Soft Furnishings Designer at
A Shufflebotham & Son. After being head hunted, she spent 6 years as Design Manager
designing show homes and working for private clients.
Since setting up the Design House in 2016 the awards have kept coming. She has won Grafters ‘Best
Residential Interior Designer 2017’ and the Natwest Entrepreneurial Spark Award. This year Katie
has been nominated for the Northern Power Women ‘One to watch’ award. Keep your eyes on

She worked on various theatre productions in London & the North West. Working briefly in Event Management, she has the organisation, patience and creative skills to suit any project. She’s passionate about being an integral part of the Design House Team & creating work to be proud of.
